The Common Sense Approach to Project Management

  • Incremental delivery of value
  • High quality, effective results
  • Focused on business value

Agile Management (or just Agile) is an umbrella term for a set of ideas, principles and methodologies for developing software, that share a common philosophy.

  • Proven to develop enduring Agile change capability – at scale
  • Incremental approach to ensure early ROI and optimise investment
  • Applying IndigoBlue’s Agile techniques and tools to accelerate business value
  • Highly collaborative approach – fostering buy-in and commitment

Our approach to building clients’ Agile change capability draws on best-of-breed techniques from IndigoBlue’s practical experience of delivering the most demanding Agile programmes. This, combined with active knowledge transfer, and long-term support, ensures efficient adoption of an Agile capability of enduring strategic business value.

IndigoBlue has a long held view that incremental delivery, and the supporting incremental strategy, is core to the success of Agile management. This tenet is the basis for our governance framework and our approach to managing Agile at scale.  Last week I was presented with an illustration of this in the shape of one of our customers that has recently piloted the use of Agile in their office in the States.

DSDM interviewed IndigoBlue MD Rob Smith to get his reaction on winning Agile Consultancy of the Year 2011/12.

DSDM interview with Rob Smith [1:37]:

The governance framework or agile governance model is used in conjunction with a standard Agile processes, such as Scrum. They work in two specific ways:

Backgound

The IndigoBlue Second Wednesdays are monthly breakfast discussions between Senior Business and IT Stakeholders in complex organisations. By invitation only and limited to 10 guests, the discussions are open and candid.

Last week I wrote a small blog post again pointing out the need for governance of Agile projects. In response Joseph Motha commented that my post would be more interesting if I explained how governance could be achieved. So here goes...

IndigoBlue has been closely involved with the recent flurry of activity regarding the use of Agile methods in Government. We ran one of the principal pilot projects at the Home Office & Met Police, contributed to the IfG report and have been proselytising to a number of Government CIO’s. Our approach is reasonably straightforward: Agile is a set of techniques to help deliver incremental business improvement.
